What is Codex Alimentarius?

The Codex Alimentarius or "Food Code" was established by FAO and the World Health Organization in 1963 to develop harmonised international food standards, which protect consumer health and promote fair practices in food trade.

Welcome to Codex Alimentarius Zimbabwe website. On 3 January 1985, the Government of Zimbabwe wrote a notification to FAO advising them of their decision to become a member of the CODEX Alimentarius Commission and transmitted a completed Notification of Membership form. The notification fulfilled the requirements of Article 2 of the Statutes of the Commission.

In the notification, the Government Analyst Laboratory in the Ministry of Health was stated as the CODEX Contact Point (CCP) for Zimbabwe.
